HMM — “Trump Has Yet to Award the National Arts Medals for 2016,” by NYT’s Peter Libbey: “For decades the United States has recognized its greatest artists — about a dozen each year — with a national medal, an award created by Congress and typically distributed each year by the president at a White House ceremony. Since 1985, arts figures including Georgia O’Keeffe, Frank Capra and Ella Fitzgerald have received the National Medal of Arts while similar cultural achievement has been recognized by the National Humanities Medal, which presidents have awarded to the likes of Steven Spielberg, Anna Deavere Smith and Louise Glück.

“But neither of those medals has been awarded since President Trump took office, the longest gap ever and one that again draws attention to the president’s often awkward relationship with the arts. The deadline for nominations for the 2016 arts medals, which have yet to be awarded, was in February 2017.”

Literally all of the US intelligence agencies have unanimously, and firmly declared that Russian interfered with the 2016 election to an increasingly major extent.

But Putin says Russia didn't, so Trump agrees, and said so while standing next to the man who almost certainly orchestrated the entire thing.

I’m keeping my powder dry for a minute to see what other cards fall. I’m just seeing a bunch of Democrat campaign ads in my mind with pictures of bit Trump supporting opponents and Nyet! stenciled across the front. It’ll be fun to watch them all parse it. Donald Trump has a mystifying Russia thing going on.

I’m curious to see what Sean Hannity says. This one seems to me that it’s going to be difficult to defend. Trump doesn’t like negative attention. I wanna see what happens next because a bunch of us Democrats sitting around crying Treason! isn’t going to accomplish anything.

He can deny personal collusion if he wants, but there’s literally zero doubt that Russia was attempting to influence the election.

I want to hold off engaging about any of this until after the pundits have had a chance to weigh in. In particular, I am waiting to see if Victor Davis Hansen has anything to say about it. To my knowledge, VDH has yet to write a word about North Korea.
